Description
Salvia tincture is a solution of salvia, alcohol and water. The concentration of salvia is 2.5:1, which means that 1 ml of this tincture contains about 2.5 grams of (dried) salvia leaves.
About 40% of the tincture consists of alcohol, but with normal use this is not enough to cause an intoxicating effect. The alcohol is added to guarantee the shelf life of the tincture.
To be effective, the tincture has to be held under the tongue, with the tongue elevated above the floor of the mouth. When the desired effect has been reached, or when half an hour has passed, it should be swallowed or spit out. To prevent a burning sensation from the added alcohol, dilute the preferred dose with an equal amount of hot water (about the temperature at which you drink coffee). Effects
With a tincture the effects generally start sooner and take shorter than when quidding dried leaves. They begin after 10 to 15 minutes and quickly develop to a plateau that lasts 20 to 40 minutes. The effects then gradually diminish over an additional 30 minutes to an hour.
With tinctures it is unlikely that you will experience intense effects (what is called ‘breakthrough’). The effects are usually described as relaxed and mellow.

Dosing advice
It is hard to give an exact dosing advice for this tincture, because its effects can differ quite a lot between persons, and also depend on the amount of time the tincture is held in the mouth. We advise beginners to start with a few drops and see if it has the desired effects. If not, the dosage can be slowly increased. In short: start low and go slow.

This product is not suitable for pregnant women, people beneath the age of 18 years or people with mental problems. Consult you doctor about the use of this product if you are using medication or if you have allergies. Do not take part in traffic or work with machines within 24 hours after using this product. Stop using this product when you experience adverse effects. Store this product in a cool, dry and dark place. Keep out of reach of children.
